Upcoming Public Performances
All performances are in Calgary, unless otherwise stated.
A new year brings few new public shows. I am being booked more and more for private performances, but there are still some public dates.
- Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Jazzwinds at the Cliff Bungalow-Mission Community Centre, 2201 Cliff Street SW. 1930 for 2000 performance
- Friday, November 3, 2006. Whisper Not at the Prarie Ink Restaurant, McNally Robinson Booksellers, 7th Ave.1930
As of November 7, 2006, I shall be full-time at Stage West Calgary until at least mid-Februrary 2007 as Music Director for their show Victor/Victoria. This has meant that I shall not be performing very much other than the regular Stage West shows.
Projects
A lot of this year will be taken up with working with Theresa Wasden and Red Box productions. The new year has also brought a number of newer composition opportunities.
- Theresa Wasden has asked me to work on a number of operas throughout the year. The two confirmed works are The Telephone by Menotti, and Puccini's Gianni Schicchi. The Menotti has just finished and was a great success. Unfortunately, due to commitments at Stage West, I am not able to be part of the Puccini.
- I also want to finish the performances and recording the 3 last piano pieces of Morton Feldman. I performed and recorded Tridaic Memories in 2004, for Bunita Marcus in 2005, and this year will see the completion of the 3 with Palais de Mari.
- In the 1980s I joined MAGA, and worked as a copyist/arranger on a number of projects. Over the last few years, I have continued to use my arranging/copying skills for my own projects, but I have decided to start working again as a copyist.
- Northen Lights Quartet. The Mongolian quartet. Read the blog to hear some of the amazing story of this band.
